Assistant Solicitor – Public Inquiry
Service Care Solutions are delighted to be supporting a high-profile public inquiry in the appointment of an Assistant Solicitor to join its legal team during the final stages of its work. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with strong analytical and organisational skills to play a key role in ensuring the Inquiry’s records and evidence are accurately preserved, managed, and archived, helping to create a lasting public record of the Inquiry’s findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice on the retention and preservation of Inquiry documents and evidence
- Reviewing materials for Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Copyright compliance
- Working closely with the evidence management team
- Liaising with the National Records of Scotland
- Maintaining document trackers and reporting progress to senior stakeholders
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 1 year PQE
- Experience handling large volumes of documents or evidence
- Strong legal drafting and advisory skills
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel
Contract: 6–12 Month Contract (potential extension to 23 months). Salary: £62,111–£77,000. Attendance & Working Hours: Office-based at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. Core hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 (1-hour). Minimum office attendance: once per week (Tuesdays).
