Assistant Solicitor – Public Inquiry

Service Care Solutions are delighted to be supporting a high-profile public inquiry in the appointment of an Assistant Solicitor to join its legal team during the final stages of its work. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with strong analytical and organisational skills to play a key role in ensuring the Inquiry’s records and evidence are accurately preserved, managed, and archived, helping to create a lasting public record of the Inquiry’s findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice on the retention and preservation of Inquiry documents and evidence
  • Reviewing materials for Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Copyright compliance
  • Working closely with the evidence management team
  • Liaising with the National Records of Scotland
  • Maintaining document trackers and reporting progress to senior stakeholders

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 1 year PQE
  • Experience handling large volumes of documents or evidence
  • Strong legal drafting and advisory skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel

Contract: 6–12 Month Contract (potential extension to 23 months). Salary: £62,111–£77,000. Attendance & Working Hours: Office-based at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. Core hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 (1-hour). Minimum office attendance: once per week (Tuesdays).
