We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant) to lead teams that design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern digital service platforms.
Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business:
As a Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant) you’ll be responsible for leading teams to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern digital service platforms. It’s a fast‑paced environment and you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions while learning about new technologies and approaches, with colleagues that will help you grow. As the technical leader you will also interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a team – You’ll work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality, including the operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services.

- Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and operating, enhancing and improving the reliability of modern digital service platforms in production environments.
- Using the latest Continuous Delivery and automation techniques for releasing operationally ready software to production, including platform orchestration through multiple configuration‑management tools.
Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to simply and clearly communicate technical design (or significant portions thereof) in conversation, documentation and presentation to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Proven experience of team leadership and supporting a DevOps culture in delivering and/or supporting complex projects.
The role requires SC Clearance.
Demonstrable experience in:
- Building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms to include architecture, design, estimation, planning and iteration on MVP using a modern agile approach.
- Championing best practice use of Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques and processes to manage and improve existing platform services, such as monitoring, platform modernisation and cost optimisation.
- Use of AWS, including SaaS or PaaS offerings to solve business problems.
- Obtained certification with a public cloud provider (AWS).
- Obtained certification relating to a particular area of specialisation, e.g. Kubernetes CKAD.
