Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer

My client in Greater Manchester has a contract requirement for a Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer.

We are looking for someone with the ability to monitor multiple infrastructure monitoring systems and develop operational procedures for triage and escalation of issues. The role will be contracted for at least six months, working directly with our Head of Infrastructure and Platforms.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitor the alerts from PRTG, App Dynamics and Azure Insights.
• Tune alerts for correct baseline configuration.
• Triage alerts and elevate to service owners.
• Enhance and build current and/or new monitoring systems.
• Create and/or refine the monitoring and triage processes.
• Manage and mitigate risks and issues.
• Work closely with key team members to instill best practices.
• Work closely with the Head of Infrastructure and Programmes to ensure IT objectives are achieved.
• Document and improve processes.
• Develop automated solutions for manual processes using available tools and/or scripts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience with monitoring IT production systems is essential.
• Experience in troubleshooting issues is also essential.
• Must have experience of PRTG and Azure insights; ideally App Dynamics.
• Experience working on Agile projects is an advantage.
• Experience with Agile Scrum methodology is an advantage.
