Company Overview

We are a mid‑sized company (300 people) based in South Manchester with an in‑house development team creating applications for our customers and internal use. Technology is a key differentiator and central to our growth.

Mission

Over the next twelve months you will contribute to the re‑platforming of one of our core applications.

Achievements

• Re‑platform our core product from Rhino to Node.js
• Improve development practices and processes
• Integrate with multiple partners
• Introduce multiple new technologies

Skills Required

• Rapid learning of new domains and understanding complex business processes
• Work at an abstract architectural and concrete implementation level
• Design API’s, including RESTful API’s
• Happy with both front‑end and back‑end JavaScript development

Technologies

We currently use Rhino and are moving to Node.js. The application uses MySQL for persistence and may be deployed with Ansible or containers; we are moving towards Kubernetes. We are also evaluating MongoDB, CockroachDB, and ElasticSearch.

Salary and Hours

• Salary: £30k – £40k (maximum)
• 35 hours per week – core hours 10am‑4pm
• Very flexible working

• 5 people in the development team
• Reporting to the Head of Software Development
