Are you an experienced and dynamic Nurse or ODP who is passionate about education and staff development? We are looking for a Professional Development Team Leader, to provide education and practice development for our Theatre team at PRH.


The successful applicant will have extensive peri-operative experience, knowledge and skills, particularly as a scrub practitioner.


You must demonstrate effective leadership and managerial skills and enjoy working alongside the multi-professional team. You will be self motivated, energetic and receptive to change. You must be able to lead, oversee and develop, the delivery of evidence based, high quality care to patients.


You will act as an expert practitioner and role model in order to develop the workforce and clinical practice. You will be required to work strategically and operationally within the team to promote the teaching, training and on-going development of a multi-professional team.


Main duties of the job


In this role you will be expected to work closely with all staff members within the theatre team to support their training and development needs.


As a Professional Development Team Leader you will work clinically with both newly qualified and experienced staff to ensure best practice within the clinical areas, alongside formal classroom & online based teaching. This includes both pre and post-registration learners.


The post holder will work in collaboration with the Clinical Lead for Theatre Education and Theatre management team to establish and maintain an a supportive learning environment, updating and developing practices and training by using their extensive knowledge and experience in peri-operative practice. Bringing innovation and a positivity to the team.


The post holder will be expected to work as a change agent with the rest of the senior theatre team within the department, taking forward standards and shaping the future of perioperative practice, within our services. They will work as part of the theatre professional development team to standardise perioperative practice cross-site and identify opportunities for improvement.


They will work with the Clinical Lead for Theatre Education and management team to ensure staff achieve the required clinical competencies by the development and implementation of a variety of educational packages in response to service, trust and individual need.
