Role Overview

Delivery Manager – DLR team, London (Beckton). Fixed‑term contract until 31 July 2028. The role is responsible for the successful delivery of project activities, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to meet programme objectives. The Delivery Manager reports to the Head of Production and is supported daily by the Depot Testing and Commissioning Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure trains are coupled upon arrival at Beckton from the International Manufacturing plant.
  • Close all pending points before final inspection, including quality issues, material installation and modifications.
  • Present vehicles to the client to the agreed standard, ready for passenger service.
  • Manage final inspections prior to deliveries.
  • Participate in daily morning meetings to ascertain workload and support testing runs and customer acceptance.
  • Monitor material delivery to support project progress – NCRs, shortages, and modifications.
  • Investigate manufacturing challenges and monitor quality trends while answering technical queries from operatives.
  • Monitor staff performance and lead a team of 4‑6 operators.
  • Update production schedules into the Commissioning Schedule.
  • Monitor production costs to ensure targets are achieved on time, within budget and quality standards.
  • Manage safe working practices and ensure high environmental standards within the team.
  • Ensure personal compliance with all HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.
  • Deliver positive leadership and promote the adoption of best‑in‑class practices.
  • Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions are in full compliance at all times.
  • Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate, as reasonably expected by the line manager.
  • Manage depot assets to ensure the depot is maintained in operational condition.
  • Ensure safety controls are adhered to and all local procedures and regulations are respected (H&S / Safety Training).
  • Develop lean methods to implement best practice within the depot and coordinate with the Training & Competency Manager, ensuring training and competency requirements are met in relation to the depot and its assets.

Qualifications

Essential: Railway experience in either operations or project delivery.

Desirable: Degree level education in a relevant field or significant proven experience in a similar level role.
