Cardiology IT Systems Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cardiology Department at St George’s Hospital NHS Trust for an experienced and highly motivated IT specialist to join our friendly team and lead the management of our Cardiology IT/PACS systems.

St. George’s Hospital is the provider of one of the largest specialised cardiology services in London. As a tertiary cardiac centre, we provide an array of services and cardiac investigations such as Echocardiograms, Cath Lab procedures, Pacing, and ECGs, to support a wide range of specialties including cardiothoracic surgery, coronary and structural intervention, electrophysiology, inherited cardiac conditions and heart failure.

Our cardiac diagnostics are also critical for the management of patients in areas such as acute medicine, ICU, renal medicine, and oncology.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our PACS and IT systems. The role would involve implementing new IT systems, upgrading existing IT systems and changes in working processes to improve workflow within the department and maintain links with the Trust and Radiology IT team who use similar systems.

Qualifications

  • A degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience as a clinical system manager
  • Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or IT Systems management experience.
  • ITIL Foundation

Experience

  • Experience in supporting a cardiovascular information system or another clinical information/imaging system.
  • Familiar with the principles of project management and change control procedures.
  • Experience with working with electronic patient records (EPR or Cerner) systems and patient information management workflow.
  • Experience of leadership and team training
  • Experience in defining and reviewing clinical information system policies and procedures to ensure they reflect the best practice.
  • Experience of vendor management and services support issues

Knowledge

  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
  • Specialist knowledge in PACS/CPACS technology, Digital Imaging, and principles of the IRMER
  • You need to have a working knowledge of DICOM and HL7 as well the fundamentals of a VNA.
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving technical difficulties and maintaining system upgrades.
  • Knowledge of the National Health System’s infrastructure and associated systems (IEP, Spine 2, SNOMED CT and HSCN).
