Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Paediatric Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join a dedicated team at a time of significant change and expansion.

Department Context

The Emergency Department currently manages approximately 55,000 patients per year. The footprint was doubled during the pandemic and refurbished with a £15m budget completed in 2022. A new £100m Emergency and Intensive Care Unit is under construction, expected to open in 2027, creating an integrated Emergency Zone with dedicated paediatric space. The department is also developing an onsite Urgent Treatment Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and deliver high‑standard direct patient care.
  • Support the 24/7 stroke thrombolysis rota with physician colleagues.
  • Engage in teaching and training for junior doctors, supported by a dedicated Education Centre and simulation suite.
  • Participate in audit, research and teaching activities to advance clinical practice.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Urgent and Emergency Care teams across the local network.
