Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner
We are seeking a qualified health professional (Nurse, OT, Social Worker, CWP, or EMHP) with CAMHS experience to join the Mental Health Support Team as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner. This role involves clinical leadership, delivery of evidence‑based interventions, staff development and supervision, and multi‑agency collaboration across Birmingham and Solihull.
Job Summary
The position is permanent, full‑time with 37.5 hours per week, and offers flexible working arrangements. The successful applicant will be based at the MHST facility at Touchbase Pears Town Selly Oak, Birmingham, and will receive a salary of £39,959‑£48,117 per annum (pro‑rata). The new team will launch in October 2026.
Main Duties
- Deliver evidence‑based early interventions for mild‑to‑moderate mental health issues.
- Support the senior mental‑health lead in schools and colleges to establish or enhance whole‑school/college approaches.
- Provide timely advice to school and college staff and liaise with external specialist services to help children and young people remain in education.
- Conduct clinical assessments and low‑intensity CBT sessions (individual or group) in schools, health centres, homes or other settings.
- Facilitate supervision, plan and create resources, and lead team meetings.
- Line‑manage junior clinical staff and contribute to team development and outcomes.
- Travel across Birmingham and Solihull as required, with a focus on reducing travel time by allocating clients to nearby schools.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., RMN, RLDN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, RN, RCN, CWP or EMHP).
- Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience working with children and young people’s mental and emotional health needs.
- Experience in assessing mental health needs of children/young people in community or inpatient settings.
- Experience engaging diverse or hard‑to‑reach populations.
- Experience within education or social care settings.
- Leadership or management experience.
Professional Development
Completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Supervision Training (LIST) is highly regarded. The Trust provides induction, statutory and mandatory training, and supports further professional development.
