Child Health Information Officer

Location: Geoffrey Rhodes Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne.

We are seeking a professional and detail‑oriented Child Health Information Officer to join our established Child Health Information Team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilise tracing databases to locate movements in and out of the area.
  • Liaise with external child health teams and internal 0‑19 colleagues.
  • Answer and deal effectively with queries via telephone and email.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information, identifying and correcting data quality issues.
  • Understand and handle confidential records appropriately.

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to identify and correct data quality issues.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to a range of working procedures.
  • Ability to work on a range of different tasks.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work to challenging deadlines.
  • Experience dealing with queries from health professionals.

SKILLS

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the SystmOne Child Health module.
  • Advanced keyboard skills, particularly SystmOne shortcuts.
  • Use of tracing databases to track and trace children.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise own and delegated work tasks and activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and NHS.Net email.
  • Safe and responsible use of physical resources including scanner, printers and Paragon Pressure Sealer.
  • Responsibility for own development, identifying training needs, setting personal objectives and attending appropriate training as agreed with line manager.
  • Use of Exeter System.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with the SystmOne Child Health module.
  • Working within a Child Health Information Service or similar team.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Team working experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • NVQ Level 3 in appropriate subject or equivalent Child Health Information Service experience.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
