Overview
Frazer‑Nash delivers innovative engineering solutions to our clients in the nuclear industry. We are seeking an Electrical Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our diverse team and contribute to nuclear projects across the UK civil and defence nuclear industry, as well as non‑reactor, experimental or demonstrator facilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and undertake project work for clients on significant nuclear safety and assurance tasks.
- Supervise other staff in carrying out such work.
- Apply experience and knowledge to assess and justify electrical engineering problems, producing safety justifications.
- Oversee and manage projects, develop and maintain client relationships, win new work.
- Support and coach junior colleagues’ development.
- Develop and execute strategies to solve complex electrical power system and C&I challenges for nuclear facilities.
- Manage technical tasks such as engineering design and modification assessment, hazard analysis, design basis analysis, probabilistic analysis, safety functional requirements, regulatory compliancy.
- Conduct periodic review of safety of nuclear facilities and qualification and substantiation of systems against safety requirements.
- Act as architect engineer for complex nuclear projects.
- Develop and support safety cases for nuclear and non‑nuclear plant.
- Author, review or verify safety‑related documents.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable 5+ years of civil nuclear or defence nuclear infrastructure experience working on electrical and C&I engineering problems.
- A degree, master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
- Well‑developed organisational skills and demonstrated experience leading technical teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability and ability to manage your own workload.
- Appetite to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
- Willingness to travel and spend time on client sites.
- Eligibility for UK National Security Vetting and pre‑employment screening.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working in highly regulated or high‑hazard industries.
- Technical oversight, leadership and independent review experience.
- Experience in project management and commercial aspects.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Chartered status or other professional institutional membership.
