System Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our team in Bath, UK, contributing to the UK QKD programme while supporting new and prospective projects and related activities. You will collaborate with Starion teams and partners in the UK, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Tasks and Activities

  • Undertaking Space Systems Engineering.
  • Managing and delivering complex software and networking systems projects.
  • Leading technical teams effectively.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Overseeing the development and writing of proposals, supporting sales in winning business.

Skills and Experience

  • Solid technical skills with experience working with complex software and networking systems.
  • Ability to take technical leadership of a team of engineers.
  • Capability to learn and understand complex systems.
  • Good communication skills with clients, partner organisations, and colleagues, including senior leadership, working in an international environment.
  • Sound knowledge of cyber security concepts and requirements.
  • Occasional travel to customer, company or partner’s sites in the UK and Europe.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Satellite communications knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of space system architectures and operations.
  • Use of MBSE tools such as SysML for system design.
  • Knowledge of operations of complex systems.
  • Understanding of optical communication systems.
  • Experience managing and writing proposals for commercial and institutional customers.
