About the Role
Clinical Scientist Nuclear Medicine Physics – Band 7 – is a key member of the Nuclear Medicine Physics team in NHS Lothian. The role is primarily based in the Department of Medical Physics at Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, but requires working at all sites where services are regionally offered by NHS Lothian, NHS Fife and NHS Borders.
The successful candidate will be a state registered Clinical Scientist with HCPC registration and extensive knowledge across a range of working procedures and practices in Nuclear Medicine. The Nuclear Medicine Physics section provides scientific, technical and clinical support to a range of clinical services using radioactive material, including diagnostic imaging, therapies and non-imaging diagnostic services at two hospital sites in Edinburgh with additional sites in Fife, Borders and the Clinical Imaging research facility within the University of Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scientific, technical and clinical support to the Nuclear Medicine departments within the South‑East Region of Scotland.
- Deliver Molecular Radiotherapy (MRT) and other nuclear medicine services directly to patients.
- Support clinical teams across multiple hospital sites with equipment operation and quality assurance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of clinical outcomes through expertise in nuclear medicine practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- State registered HCPC Clinical Scientist with relevant experience in Nuclear Medicine.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of nuclear medicine procedures, practices and regulatory requirements.
- Strong commitment to high quality, safe, effective and person‑centred care.
Working Conditions
- 36 hours per week.
- Primary location: Western General Hospital, Edinburgh with travel to other regional sites.
- Coverage of both diagnostic imaging and therapeutic services.
