Waste Officer

Job Overview

Position: Waste Officer – Waste & Resources Management.

Location: Trafford General Hospital, Town Manchester (multiple Trust sites may be required).

Hours: Part‑time, 15 hours per week (occasionally weekend cover).

Salary: £32,073 – £39,043 per annum, pro rata (Yearly).

Responsibilities

• Monitor waste services across MFT sites.
• Conduct waste audits and ensure legislative compliance.
• Identify and deliver projects to reduce waste and improve segregation.
• Support implementation of waste and sustainability initiatives.
• Work across multiple Trust sites as required.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to maintain high standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience within an estates or facilities environment.
• Experience with waste monitoring procedures.
• Experience with waste auditing.
• Experience delivering training and instructions to small groups of staff.

Key Skills

• Knowledge of NHS waste guidance and UK waste legislation.
• Ability to manage a variable workload independently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to identify issues requiring escalation.
• Understanding of statutory compliance importance for the Trust.
• Ability to compile concise and accurate management reports.
