Our client has been an industry leader in kitchen manufacturing for both the UK and US markets for 35 years, and has now become the UK’s fastest growing designer, manufacturer and retailer of fully assembled kitchen cabinets. They already have 88 showrooms to date across in the UK, and plan to continue expansion with many more.

Due to the continual expansion and demand for their products we are requiring an Assistant Engineering Manager, the position would suit an experienced engineer looking for the next step into one of the fastest growing companies in the industry.

The main purpose:

To support the Engineering Manager to lead the site Engineering function through an exciting period of development.

This development encompasses the following elements: acceleration of our PPM journey, optimisation of our maintenance strategy to further improve machine effectiveness, support the roll out of investments and development of our manufacturing facility. To provide effective cover for the Engineering Manager.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the supporting the managing/development and implementation of constant improvement plans for the Engineering Dept.
  • Ensure that all site/machine breakdowns are dealt with in an effective/timely manner, including KPI’s.
  • Ensure engineering compliance is maintained providing safe equipment for people, product and the environment.
  • Provide maintenance management for the site, including PPM leadership within a TPM environment.
  • Support Engineering Project team with the installation/commissioning of new machines.
  • Support and drive forward the continuous development of the Engineering Dept.
  • Implement site energy saving plans, including renewable energy technologies.
  • Ability to confer with all levels of management throughout the business.
  • Responsible for Supervising/leading Engineering/Facilities Team Leaders/Engineers.
  • Planning/implementation of machine site servicing.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and maintain budgets.

Desired skills & knowledge:

  • Ideally electrical bias with wood or fast-moving machinery experience.
  • Engineering studies to HNC/HND in Mechanical/Electrical engineering and/or time served.
  • Relevant experience in Engineering management, ideally in the woodworking industry/FMCG.
  • A proven track record of delivering results.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present.
