Telford & Wrekin Library Service is looking for a keen individual to join the team. This is a permanent position for 27 hours per week and will be based at Southwater Library.
Brief overview of the role: The library service is a valued resource within the community. This role provides a highly customer-focused service to the public.
- Answer general and book-related queries
- Issue, discharge and shelve books
- Promote library stock and handle cash
- Help with children’s activities
- Register new users
- Help customers in the use of IT via public access PCs
- Deliver the ‘First Point’ services provided in the library
The position will involve working fortnightly on a Saturday on a rota basis. The post holder may also be required to work Sundays, evenings and Bank Holidays as required.
Skills and experience
- Knowledgeable about books, online resources and information on the Council website
- Can work accurately, sometimes under pressure
- Communicates articulately with a diverse range of library customers
- Uses good questioning skills to comprehend and meet the needs of library customers
- Shows initiative and a desire for developing new skills
