Registration Officer Ceremonies

Location: Gardner Hall, Venns Lane, Hereford
Hours: Zero
Salary: Sessional payment of £65 per ceremony. Additional hours will be remunerated separately.

The Herefordshire Registration Service is looking to recruit Ceremony Officers to conduct and register a range of statutory and non‑statutory ceremonies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and register marriages and civil partnerships at approved venues across the county, including the Woollard Room and Orangery at Gardner Hall.
- Attend local Registered Buildings as required.
- Be available to work during the week, at weekends and on Bank Holidays, with unpredictable working patterns and short‑notice shift changes.
- Maintain high standards in registration practices and customer service.
About You
- Mathematics and English Language passes to GCSE level (Grade C or above) or another relevant qualification.
- Experience of giving presentations/public speaking.
- Experience dealing with the public face‑to‑face in a service industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to officiate marriages, citizenship, civil partnerships and other ceremonies with appropriate gravitas and a smart appearance.
- Ability to deliver services that meet internal and external high standards on target and on time.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to address a group with confidence and professionalism.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult situations or with emotional members of the public.
