Relief Support Worker – Intellectual Disability and Autism Services

We are looking for compassionate and reliable Relief Support Workers to join our Intellectual Disability and Autism Services (IDAS) relief pool. In this role, you will provide practical care, emotional support and day-to-day assistance to people with learning disabilities, autism and complex support needs.

Vacancy Details

Role: Relief Support Worker

Location: Various locations across Northern Ireland

Hours: Flexible day, evening and night cover shifts, including weekdays and weekends on an ad-hoc basis.

About the Role

As a Relief Support Worker, you will help create a calm, safe and homely environment where people are supported to live as independently as possible and stay connected to the people and activities that matter to them.

  • Provide personal care, including support with showering, bathing, changing and toileting.
  • Offer practical support with meals, drinks and medication, in line with agreed support plans.
  • Support daily living tasks such as laundry, cleaning, general household routines and completing daily notes.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships and offer emotional support when it is needed.
  • Work in line with individual support plans and risk assessments to help keep people safe.
  • Use positive behaviour support approaches and personal safety techniques where required, with full training and guidance provided.
  • Work flexibly across early, late, night and weekend shifts depending on service need.

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with the people we support, their families and colleagues.

Previous experience is not essential. What matters most is that you share our values and want to make a positive difference.

Training and Support

You will receive full training and support, including personal care, positive behaviour support and the safe use of personal safety techniques in line with Inspire’s organisational training. You will also be supported by experienced colleagues and service teams.
