We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability (ID) CAMHS, or Child & Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in ID or neurodiversity, as part of our comprehensive CAMHS Service in North Derbyshire.

We offer £10,000 in addition to basic salary on commencement, with a further £10,000 after two years in post. An additional SPA beyond the usual allocation of 1.5 PAs will also be allocated to enable our appointee to undertake defined Care Unit support. Benefits will be pro rata for part time.

We have an excellent, well‑established and experienced LD CAMHS team made up of Intellectual Disability and Mental Health nurses, Specialist Support Workers, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology. The team has an excellent track record of delivering outstanding patient care and has been nominated for their work. We enjoy excellent links with our key partner agencies across North Derbyshire and have link workers with our Special Schools delivering a comprehensive training programme. We work closely with our wider CAMHS team and have well‑integrated leadership across the service.

Person Specification

Professional Qualifications

  • MBChB or equivalent
  • CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
  • S12 Approval
  • Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.

Experience

  • Experience of working with young people and their families/carers
  • Good knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatry and wide medical knowledge
  • Psychotherapy – CBT/IPT/brief intervention training

Skills

  • Clinical supervision experience/skills
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Ability to undertake training/mentoring of clinical staff and enthusiasm for education
