Job Description:

The Data Quality Officer is responsible for supporting the Data Quality Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities in relation to implementing and maintaining the Trust’s Data Improvement Strategy. The issue of quality of data and information pervades all aspects of the delivery of patient care and is the responsibility of everyone involved in delivering and supporting that care.

Main duties of the job

The Data Quality Officer will support the Data Quality Manager to implement, monitor, investigate, validate and correct the quality of data on the Trust’s patient-based systems. The post-holder will undertake data investigation, monitoring, validation and correction in a timely and structured manner as directed by the Data Quality Manager. This role will include data management issues associated with commissioning queries, Patient Demographic Service queries and support NHS number tracing.

  • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values

Education & professional Qualifications

  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

  • Exposure to Patient Administrative practice
  • Experience of promoting good practice and advice operationally on data management
  • Experience of identifying causes of data errors and inaccuracies
  • Experience of working within an office environment and organizing own workload
  • Experience/knowledge of patient information capture
  • Knowledge and experience of data analysis

Skills and aptitudes

  • Extensive use of Cerner Millennium
  • Word and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of databases and patient-based systems
  • Ability to problem solve and think logically through a problem
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and to work with them to ensure needs are met, particularly in relation to data management and quality
  • Ability to achieve targets and standards personally and with others
  • Ability to provide advice and support for adoption & operation of data quality legislation, directives and standards
  • Ability to identify and report significant data quality issues effectively for monitoring and improvement purposes
  • Capability to interpret and manage potentially complex queries in specialized areas such as commissioner or Patient Demographic Service queries
