Job Title: Head of Project Management & Engineering
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire | Salary: Up to £85,000 | Shift: Monday – Friday
Overview
A great opportunity has come to market for a Head of Project Management & Engineering to join a highly respected and fast‑growing engineering business with a strong reputation within the automotive sector. You will be responsible for leading all customer and R&D projects from concept through to delivery, managing a team of Project Engineers, and ensuring full alignment between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial functions. This is a senior leadership role within the Management Team, where you will play a key part in driving technical delivery, project execution, and continuous improvement across complex engineering programmes.
Required Qualifications
- 10–15 years’ experience in automotive, composites, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Strong engineering project management leadership experience
- Proven experience managing technical engineering teams
- Strong understanding of engineering design, manufacturing, and project delivery processes
- Experience working with ERP systems and structured project controls
- Strong commercial awareness including quotations and project costing
- Experience working with customers and senior stakeholders
- Understanding of manufacturing environments and production planning
Desirable Experience
- Experience within composites or high‑performance automotive/aerospace environments
- Knowledge of FEA and design tools (CATIA V5, Femap, Altair, HyperWorks)
- Experience working to AS9100 quality standards
- Background in low‑volume, high‑complexity engineering programmes
