Principal Electrical Design Engineer – UK Energy
We are recruiting a Principal Electrical Engineer to work across all voltage levels in our offices in Redditch, Newcastle or Birmingham, with weekly travel to Redditch. This role involves shaping the UK’s energy transition through projects such as energy from waste, biomass, hydrogen, district heating, pump stations, hydropower, energy building design, protection systems, LVAC and more.
Responsibilities
• Lead the electrical design of projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems.• Perform design, modelling and analysis of electrical and electronic systems to ensure feasibility and compliance with industry standards.• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with civil, mechanical and other engineering disciplines for integrated project design.• Conduct feasibility studies, concept design, construction and commissioning activities, and deliver technical presentations to clients and colleagues.
Qualifications
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET.• Significant experience in the energy sector (or relevant experience in water or buildings).• Proven ability to produce and interpret design drawings and documents including single line diagrams, key line diagrams, block cable diagrams, sizing calculations, load schedules, specifications and reports.• Strong communication skills for technical presentations and collaborative design workshops.• Embodiment of client focus, community‑centric design, collaboration and service excellence.
