Procurement Lead

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: £58,000 – £60,000

Working hours: Monday – Friday 9am-5pm

Are you an experienced procurement professional looking to make an impact in a dynamic manufacturing environment? Join our client as a Procurement Lead and take charge of managing global procurement activities, focusing on suppliers from China.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management for a defined portfolio of out‑of‑China suppliers and contract manufacturers. Own pricing, terms, and contract implementation.
  • Run RFx and negotiations to secure competitive pricing and optimise total cost of ownership.
  • Analyse key cost drivers and propose actions to mitigate risks.
  • Be the primary contact for out‑of‑China suppliers. Build strong relationships aligned with our client’s service, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Review supplier performance across cost, quality, and responsiveness, driving improvements with cross-functional teams.
  • Assess supply chain risks and support dual‑sourcing decisions when necessary.
  • Support annual cost‑improvement targets by identifying opportunities for value creation.
  • Track and report savings and cost avoidance in collaboration with Finance.
  • Operate within procurement policies to ensure ethical dealings with suppliers.
  • Maintain risk registers covering geopolitical, capacity, and material risks, and support execution of mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure supplier alignment with launches and service requirements.
  • Lead procurement workstreams for change controls and supplier audits related to out‑of‑China supply.

Key Experience and Requirements

  • Strong procurement or sourcing experience, ideally in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or FMCG.
  • Proven ability to manage cross‑cultural relationships and time zones.
  • Solid understanding of contract manufacturing and supply risk management principles.
