About the role

The Freeths Private Client Dispute Resolution Team (PCDR) specializes in contentious trusts, probate, and Court of Protection cases. We are looking for a Senior Associate or Managing Associate to join our Leicester or Nottingham office, ideally with at least 2 years of post‑qualified experience (PQE) in contentious trusts and probate. The role requires a high level of responsibility, including managing other team members and working independently. Interest in business development is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an exemplary level of client service and care at a consistently high standard.
  • Manage financial and commercial matters, including accurate time recording, billing, achievement of firm‑delivered targets, and management of work in progress.
  • Actively contribute to business‑development opportunities to retain existing clients and expand the business.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical expertise and comply with SRA competence standards.
  • Take accountability for your own personal development and continuously improve interpersonal and soft skills.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks required from time to time.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Directly relevant experience in contentious trusts and probate with a correct level of PQE (2–7 years).
  • Desirable to be working towards or have the ACTAPS qualification.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of client industry and business.
  • Proven track record in competent financial management, meeting client expectations, and sound case management.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with case‑management systems, electronic time recording, and general Microsoft packages.
  • Self‑starting, friendly, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to consistently demonstrate the firm’s values.
