RF Engineer

Bath – on‑site role. Salary: £50,000‑£90,000. Hiring at all levels – Junior, Mid, Senior.

We are partnering with a leading communications and technology organisation to appoint an RF Engineer to support a portfolio of critical UK programmes. The client operates within a highly technical engineering environment where satellite communications, RF systems, and infrastructure projects play a key role in delivering mission‑critical services. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex communications solutions across the UK.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience within engineering, defence, telecommunications or SATCOM environments.
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering principles and satellite communications systems.
  • Experience with ground‑station equipment including converters, amplifiers, receivers, and antenna systems.
  • Experience delivering systems engineering activities on large‑scale or complex projects.
  • Understanding of technical compliance, engineering governance and regulated environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Eligible to obtain or currently hold a UK Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of ISO standards, DEFCONs, DEFSTANs and JSPs.
  • Experience with requirement and document management tools such as DOORS and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience working within defence, government or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead antenna and RF engineering activities across multiple UK programmes.
  • Support requirements capture, analysis and systems engineering deliverables.
  • Review technical designs and ensure compliance with customer, programme and industry requirements.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance and successful delivery.
  • Support installation, testing, commissioning and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Identify technical risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, operations and programme teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and support customer‑facing discussions where required.
