Job Description

Lead and support the districts within Europe to achieve best in class cartage operations as measured through success in Operational Excellence and Financial Excellence. The Cartage Manager Europe will work with Regional Vice Presidents, District Managers and Cartage Managers throughout Europe to implement and continuously improve dedicated cartage models that leverage exclusive use trucking capacity to result in best in class pickup and delivery execution and cartage costs.

The Cartage Manager, Europe will train, mentor and lead the development of expertise surrounding cartage procurement and execution at the district level within Europe. This will include assisting districts with understanding market operating costs, facility strategies, vetting local and national service providers and evaluating the effectiveness of each cartage program. This role will be responsible for the measurement and communication of the cartage program’s effectiveness to the European Leadership Team. It is essential an International Transport Manager CPC is held.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive high-performance cartage operations across European districts
  • Support branches with warehouse setup, processes, and service execution
  • Ensure best-in-class pickup and delivery performance
  • Manage and optimise cartage cost structures and efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify cost-reduction opportunities
  • Support districts with procurement strategies and supplier negotiations
  • Ensure visibility and control of cartage program costs
  • Collaborate with technology teams to enhance cartage systems and tools
  • Oversee dashboards to provide clear performance and cost visibility
  • Champion system improvements across the region
  • Train, mentor and develop Cartage Managers and local teams
  • Build strong partnerships with district leadership teams
  • Support recruitment and development of cartage expertise
  • Communicate performance insights to senior leadership

What Success Looks Like

  • 90%+ of eligible cargo managed through dedicated cartage programs
  • Strong local ownership of cartage programs across all districts
  • Improved visibility, efficiency, and service execution

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to influence and drive change across multiple teams
  • High attention to detail with a data-driven mindset
  • Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field
