About the Role

The National Crime Agency’s Business Support Officer position is a full‑time, on‑site role focused on providing customer‑oriented support across a range of business areas including strategy, transformation, intelligence, investigations, corporate services, human resources, and national economic crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support policy development, planning, performance monitoring and service delivery.
  • Lead and manage projects, including requisition assessment, case notifications, quality reviews and campaign planning.
  • Draft, review and coordinate policy documents and proposals.
  • Act as a single point of contact for business and administrative queries, ensuring effective monitoring, audit and review of processes.
  • Manage a team of Business Support Assistants, allocating workloads and ensuring timely completion.
  • Produce management information, reports, briefings and business plans for senior management.
  • Govern data handling, ensuring secure, confidential and compliant data disbursement.
  • Maintain working relationships across government departments, statutory bodies and private organisations, attending working groups, committees and meetings as required.
  • Ensure team workloads are manageable and delegated appropriately.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other applications.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to extract and interpret complex information.
  • Excellent customer‑service orientation and the capacity to understand and exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Highly organised, with strong time‑management and prioritisation skills.
  • Effective problem‑solving and logical decision‑making ability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team‑working and relationship‑management abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of information management, handling of sensitive or confidential data, and awareness of relevant legislation such as Data Protection.

Security Vetting

Applicants must obtain and maintain SC Enhanced clearance before commencing. DV Enhanced clearance is required within the first 12 months. Residential requirements must be met to qualify for the required clearances.

Nationality Requirements

Open to:

  • UK nationals or dual nationals (British component).
  • Nationals of the Republic of Ireland.
  • Citizens of Commonwealth countries with the right to work in the UK.
  • EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein nationals and their family members with settled or pre‑settled status.
  • Individuals with valid EU Settlement Scheme status before 31December2020.
  • Turkish nationals and qualifying family members.

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: £36,057. Additional allowances: London weighting £4,218 per annum; South‑East allowance £3,375 per annum. All roles receive the Civil Service pension scheme (£10,445 employer contribution). Leave: 26 days start‑up, increasing to 31 days after five years.
