About the Position

As a Business Development Representative for the Nordic region, you will play a critical part in driving the company’s growth by generating and nurturing sales leads for our unified, cloud‑based platform focused on Human Risk Management and comprehensive email security. The Mimecast product suite protects organizations against phishing, ransomware, and impersonation while providing data archiving, continuity, and employee training to reduce insider threats. As a BDR, you will be the first point of contact for potential customers, responsible for high‑volume outreach to qualify leads and create new business opportunities. You will work closely with Marketing, Channel, and Sales teams, as well as reseller partners, to uncover opportunities and fuel our sales pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cold calls and send outbound emails to identify and qualify potential leads (Outbound Prospecting).
  • Identify and qualify potential business opportunities through strategic outreach, cold calling, email campaigns, and social media engagement (Lead Generation).
  • Follow‑up on marketing‑generated leads to assess fit and potential for Mimecast products (Lead Qualification).
  • Work with reseller partners to identify and generate joint opportunities (Partner Collaboration).
  • Research and profile target accounts to identify key decision‑makers, stakeholders, and potential pain points (Target Account Profiling).
  • Articulate Mimecast’s value proposition in a clear and compelling way, secure meetings, and handoff to the wider sales team (Pitching).
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads and ensure accurate tracking of all activities, interactions and prospect details in the CRM system (Pipeline Management).
  • Conduct initial needs analysis to understand prospect requirements, pain points, and business challenges (Prospect Engagement).
  • Work closely with Account Executives, marketing teams, and reseller partners to ensure seamless transition of qualified leads and joint opportunity generation (Collaboration).
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to effectively position the company’s solutions and refine outreach strategies (Market Research).
  • Schedule qualified meetings with the appropriate sales representatives or Account Executives to progress opportunities (Appointment Setting).
  • Attend training sessions, stay updated on product developments, and refine skills to enhance prospecting effectiveness (Continuous Learning).

Qualifications

  • Experience in tele‑sales, business development, or outbound prospecting is a plus, though not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and preferably one Nordic language (Swedish, Danish or Norwegian); candidates without a Nordic language should have lived or worked in the region.
  • Motivated self‑starter with a desire to exceed targets and grow your sales career (Sales‑Driven Mindset).

Benefits

We provide a hybrid working model that allows you to balance work and life while fostering collaboration and innovation. Employees are expected to come to the office at least two days per week. The on‑target earnings (OTE) range for this position is £40,000–£66,000 (OTE) plus benefits. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location with individual compensation also dependent on qualifications, experience and skills.
