Apply for the Centre Manager – Little Diggers ECE
Location: Canterbury
Job Description:

Little Diggers ECE is seeking an experienced and passionate centre manager to lead our team, strengthen centre culture, and support high-quality outcomes for our tamariki, whānau, and kaiako.

We are a locally owned and operated early childhood centre, led by hands‑on owners who are also parents. We understand the importance of creating an environment where tamariki feel safe, settled, and inspired, where whānau feel connected, and where kaiako feel genuinely valued and supported.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and capable leader who brings proven management experience, strong people leadership, and sound operational and financial understanding. You will play a key role in shaping a positive, professional team culture while ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the centre.

As centre manager, you will lead with warmth, clarity, and professionalism, setting the tone for the centre. You will work closely with the owners and Business Support Manager to maintain high standards across curriculum, compliance, staffing, communication, resources, and financial management.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in an ECE leadership role
  • Builds strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and kaiako
  • Leads team culture and supports staff wellbeing
  • Confidently manages staffing, rosters, ratios, and operations
  • Demonstrates financial awareness, including budgeting and resource management
  • Understands licensing requirements and compliance expectations
  • Is committed to Te Whāriki and intentional teaching practice

At Little Diggers, you will join a supportive, values‑driven environment with approachable owners and a wider leadership network. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both team culture and learning outcomes, with ongoing professional support.

Applicants must hold a recognised ECE qualification, current practising certificate, and the legal right to work in New Zealand.
