Job Overview
The primary purpose of this newly created position is to support the International Tax team on a broad range of tax matters across EMEA including M&A, special projects, transfer pricing, tax controversy and, to a lesser extent, direct tax compliance and US GAAP tax reporting.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with a wide variety of international tax issues. The ideal candidate is a natural problem‑solver, resourceful and proactive but able to recognise when to seek guidance. The role requires someone who is comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and who thrives when collaborating with teams across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Support the International Tax team on special projects including international business expansion, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions
- Provide tax guidance for international contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives
- Assess impact of emerging jurisdictional, regional and global tax rules
- Manage and respond to tax authority interventions across various jurisdictions
- Assist with the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and related matters
- Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, Treasury, and business units on tax matters
- Develop successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders (incl. tax authorities)
- Provide tax advice to senior stakeholders across the business on a range of tax matters
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of the Company’s income tax provision across certain jurisdictions for US GAAP and local GAAP financial reporting
- Oversight and management of direct tax filings and payment obligations in certain jurisdictions
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or law from an accredited college/university
- Licensed CPA/CA/CTA or similar
Experience
- Minimum three years tax experience in industry and/or in a public accounting firm
- Insurance industry experience is an advantage but not essential
- Experience and knowledge of tax reporting within the framework of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting is desired but not essential
- While primarily a direct tax role, the ability to identify indirect tax and employee tax issues is important given the coverage of this role
- Ability to research and apply tax law to business transactions and strong project management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Possess strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
