Senior Manager – Acquisitions

Department: Mergers and Acquisitions

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Horsham

Description

Are you currently leading M&A transactions end-to-end within the wealth or financial advice market?

Do you have the network and credibility to originate and convert acquisition opportunities?

Can you negotiate, structure, and deliver deals while managing multiple transactions in parallel?

If yes, this role sits at the centre of Benchmark’s growth strategy.

We are hiring a Senior Manager to join our Acquisitions team and support the delivery of our M&A strategy.

You will lead acquisition activity across the full deal lifecycle, from origination through to completion and integration. You will work closely with the Acquisitions Director, Board, and Executive Leadership Team, taking ownership for transactions and driving outcomes.

Inorganic growth is a core part of our strategy. This is a visible role where you will operate across the business and with external advisers to deliver acquisitions across the UK.

What you’ll do

  • Lead M&A transactions end-to-end, from initial engagement through to completion
  • Build and convert a strong acquisition pipeline aligned to growth strategy
  • Lead negotiations and structure deals with target firms and advisers
  • Oversee due diligence with internal teams and external partners
  • Plan and support post-acquisition integration across operations, HR, and compliance
  • Prepare materials for executive and board-level decision making
  • Build and maintain relationships across the advisory and corporate finance market
  • Provide market insight and input into Benchmark’s acquisition strategy

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Strong M&A experience, ideally within wealth management or financial advice
  • Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and executing acquisitions
  • Deep understanding of the UK financial planning market
  • Strong network across IFAs, advisers, investment banks, and corporate finance
  • Commercial mindset with strong financial and valuation capability
  • Ability to operate credibly with senior stakeholders internally and externally
  • Experience managing competing priorities across multiple transactions
  • Experience within regulated financial services environments (Desirable)
  • Exposure to integration planning and post-deal delivery (Desirable)
  • Relevant industry or professional qualifications (Desirable)

Why join this role

  • Lead end-to-end M&A activity in a business where acquisitions are central to growth
  • Work directly with the Board and Executive Leadership Team on high-value transactions
  • Take real ownership, from origination through to integration, not just execution
  • Operate in a high-volume, active deal environment with over 50 acquisitions completed to date
  • Build and leverage your network across the UK wealth and advisory market
  • Shape how Benchmark grows, with visibility and influence at senior level
  • Be part of a business with strong backing from Schroders and clear investment in growth
