Job Title: Finance Business Partner

Salary: £37,000 per annum

Hours per week: 35 hours per week (flexible working options considered)

You’ll be required to work from our head office in Wigston, Leicester a minimum of 2 days per week. The remainder of your working hours will be undertaken from home.

Eligibility: The successful applicant must have the pre‑existing right to both live, and to work in the UK.

About the role

At a pivotal moment in our organisational evolution, you will build trusted partnerships with senior managers and their teams to provide vital financial guidance. You will work directly with the Head of Finance (HoF) and Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) to run complex financial models that support agile decision‑making across the IOSH group.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisor: Provide individual directorates with tailored advice, detailed options, and predictive scenarios to improve business performance.
  • Core Management Accounting: Produce monthly financials, Directorate income/expenditure accounts, and detailed variance analyses.
  • Forecasting & Planning: Guide budget holders through financial reviews, build robust forecasts, and support the creation of the Annual Budget and Medium‑Term Financial Plan for the Board of Trustees.
  • System Transformation: Contribute to ad‑hoc financial projects to design next‑generation reporting models, automated dashboards, and self‑serve financial methods.
  • Financial Upskilling: Support the SFBP in delivering training and induction sessions to build budgetary control awareness across directorates.

Qualifications

We are looking for an analytical problem solver who can dissect complex organisational bottlenecks and turn financial ambiguities into structural realities.

Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body is desirable.

Essential Criteria

  • Professional Qualifications: Must be at least part‑qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or fully qualified with evidence of up‑to‑date management accounting knowledge.
  • Advanced Problem Solving: A proven track record of diagnosing financial issues, evaluating alternative solutions, recommending structural improvements, and driving operational change.
  • Modelling & Analysis: Deep experience in financial analysis, business case planning, and the creation of highly complex spreadsheets or forecasting tools.
  • Month‑End Governance: Direct experience managing crucial components of financial month‑end routines while strictly meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Advisory: Demonstrable success in advising, guiding, and constructively challenging non‑finance budget holders on commercial matters.
  • Precision: Absolute ability to work accurately, dissect granular data, and maintain impeccable attention to detail under tight timeframes.
