Linux/Unix Engineer – MUST HAVE SC CLEARANCE
One of our Blue Chip Clients is urgently looking for a Linux/Unix Engineer.
MUST BE SC CLEARED (active) AND BE A SOLE UK NATIONAL – (MOD CLEARANCE PREFERABLE). No more than 28 days outside the UK during the last 5 years. Location: Manchester/Barrow – Hybrid 80% office & 20% remote. MUST BE PAYE THROUGH UMBRELLA.
Role Description
Core Technical Requirement: Strong hands‑on engineers with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, required to support a security‑critical production estate including Legacy Solaris platforms.
Key Technical Skills
- Linux Administration: RHEL/CentOS (or equivalent), Performance troubleshooting, patching, system management.
- Solaris: Strong experience administering Legacy Solaris systems, ZFS, system stability, and production support.
- Core Unix Engineering: OS-level troubleshooting (CPU, memory, disk, services), System patching, upgrades, and life cycle management, Scripting/automation (Shell, basic tooling).
- Production Support: Experience in live enterprise environments, Incident, problem, and change execution.
Environment
Secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure. Mixed Linux and Legacy Unix estate requiring specialist support capability.
Summary
Short‑term requirement for technically strong Unix engineers with Solaris expertise, capable of operating independently in a controlled, production environment to support exit delivery.
