The Role – Brackley, United Kingdom

We have an exciting opportunity in our Enterprise Technology Team for an IT Platform Engineer.

This role will be central to delivering and supporting the core IT infrastructure that underpins the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Working across the Enterprise Technology function and wider business, you will help ensure our platforms are resilient, scalable and consistently performing at the highest level.

The successful candidate will be passionate about technology and infrastructure, bringing a proactive and solutions-focused mindset. You will be comfortable operating across a broad range of technologies, balancing stability and control with the pace and demands of a world-leading sports team.

You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of projects, while owning the day‑to‑day performance, reliability and continuous improvement of core platforms and services.

Please note this role requires you to be onsite 3‑4 days a week at our Headquarters in Brackley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a key contributor within a collaborative, high‑performing technology team focused on delivering clear objectives

  • Manage and maintain a blend of traditional infrastructure (datacentres, storage, backup, hypervisors) across Windows and Linux environments

  • Install, configure and support physical IT hardware within datacentre environments, working closely with site facilities

  • Support and troubleshoot server workloads, virtual machines, containers, clusters and services

  • Contribute to infrastructure security, resilience and business continuity alongside security teams

  • Enable and support self‑service platforms, working with teams across the business to deliver scalable solutions

  • Drive automation and continuous improvement to reduce manual processes and increase efficiency

  • Support out‑of‑hours escalations where required to maintain business‑critical services

  • Act as a key point of contact across teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on platform capabilities and delivery

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify opportunities to evolve and improve infrastructure across both on‑premise and hybrid environments

About You

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience across Linux, Windows and hypervisor platforms (KVM/VMware)

  • Knowledge of storage solutions (shared, hyperconverged, JBOD, S3‑compatible) and associated infrastructure

  • Experience supporting infrastructure platforms and services within enterprise environments

  • Knowledge of identity management (Active Directory, Entra ID), including modern authentication methods

  • Experience with scripting and automation to streamline operational tasks

  • Understanding of datacentre environments, including networking, cabling, cooling and firewalls

  • Strong attention to detail, consistently delivering to high technical standards

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team‑focused mindset

  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with changing priorities

  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple workstreams effectively

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and command‑line tooling

  • Exposure to enterprise platforms such as PLM or ERP systems

  • Relevant vendor certifications (e.g. VMware, Microsoft, Linux)
