Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Moodle (4.5.5+) PHP Engineer and Technical Product Owner to lead the technical evolution of our Global Campus platform, a strategic, organisation-wide digital product connecting students across a global network of schools.

This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role combining:

  • Technical product ownership of platform features and architecture with agile delivery
  • Leadership of API‑first integrations and scalable platform design
  • Modernization of the development lifecycle (backlog management, release engineering, infrastructure/architecture, observability)

You will play a critical role in delivering a platform that enables:

  • Global student collaboration and connection
  • High‑quality, personalised learning experiences
  • Scalable engagement across tens of thousands of users

Qualifications

  • Deep experience with Moodle development (5+ years preferred)
  • Expert‑level PHP (OOP, modern frameworks, performance tuning)
  • Moodle plugins and extending core functionality
  • APIs and integrations (REST, web services)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Moodle architecture and internals
    • LMS design patterns and user workflows
    • Data models and analytics integration
    • Deep understanding of Azure/Deployment pipelines

Highly Desirable

    • Learning analytics

Technical Stack

  • PHP (core)
  • REST APIs

Personal Profile

  • Moodle PHP Wizard – deep, practical expertise in the platform
  • Builder mindset – comfortable creating from scratch, not just configuring
  • Product thinker – understands why features matter, not just how to build them
  • Systems thinker – able to design for scale and complexity
  • Comfortable in ambiguity and evolving requirements

This is not a traditional LMS developer role.

You are:

  • Building a globally scaled, student‑facing product
  • Working in a unique platform offering (Global Campus) with no direct equivalent in other K–12 organisations

Creating features that:

  • Enable real student interaction
  • Drive measurable educational impact
  • Differentiates the organisation in the market

This role is critical to delivering:

  • A modern, connected global learning platform
  • Increased student engagement and connectedness

A unique digital experience that supports:
