Overview
We are looking to recruit a trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Advanced Paramedic Practitioner (APP) Band 6 to join us at Borders General, working 34.5 hours per week on day/night rotation. Annex 21 uplift will be applied where appropriate. Qualified Advanced Care Practitioners (ANP or APP) will commence/continue on Band 7 upon qualification.
Responsibilities
The successful Advanced Care Practitioner will provide safe, effective and efficient person‑centred care within the Hospital at Night service. Key duties include:
- Delivering high‑quality care in acute/road settings such as ED, ITU, HDU, trauma, surgical or medical environments.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, exhibiting transformational leadership, resilience, and flexibility to change.
- Engaging in professional development and supporting colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinating care pathways and ensuring continuity of care across day and night shifts.
Qualifications
- Registered nurse or paramedic with experience in an acute or on‑the‑road setting.
- Interest in advanced practice and ability to gain an advanced qualification through QMU or Napier University.
- For trainees: willingness to undertake a Band 6 role and complete the two‑year qualification programme to progress to Band 7.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom, or eligibility for UK Sponsor visa.
Additional Information
To work in the United Kingdom, a legal right to work must be demonstrated. All applicants will have their UK work eligibility verified. Employment is permanent and will commence on a band‑specific salary according to NHS pay scales.
