About The Role
As a Counselling Lecturer you will play a key role in delivering and developing counselling programmes, inspiring learners to achieve their full potential. You will contribute to programme leadership, deliver engaging lessons across a range of formats, and ensure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment. You will also support recruitment, quality assurance, and curriculum development activities while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
This is a group role, so you will be expected to work flexibly across both campus sites at Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
Salary: £21,414.30 – £27,105.21 + £6,141.62 – £7,773.76 Annual Employer Pension Contributions.
Working Hours: 22.5 hours
Part-time Working Pattern: Tuesday 8:30 – 17:00, Wednesday 8:30 – 17:00, Thursday 8:30 – 17:00
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Programme Tutor for counselling courses and support students throughout their learning journey.
- Plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching, including blended and innovative learning approaches.
- Develop curriculum materials and contribute to course design, review and improvement.
- Monitor and track learner progress, attendance, achievement and progression outcomes.
- Undertake administrative duties including admissions, timetabling, assessment and record keeping.
- Support student recruitment through open days, events and promotional activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to enhance provision.
- Provide pastoral support, guidance and mentoring to ensure successful learner outcomes.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, self-assessment and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant counselling qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Level 5 Teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one within a specified timeframe).
- Experience within counselling practice or related industry setting.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusive practice, safeguarding and high-quality student experience.
