An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly organised School Business Manager to join our successful and supportive school in Blackburn.
Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective financial, operational, and administrative management of the school. Alongside leading the school’s business functions, you will also support the day-to-day running of the main school office, ensuring that staff, pupils, parents, and visitors receive a professional, efficient, and welcoming service.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the school’s finances, including budgeting, monitoring expenditure, and financial reporting.
- Oversee HR administration, recruitment, and personnel processes.
- Manage procurement, contracts, and service agreements to ensure value for money.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and statutory requirements.
- Oversee premises management and site maintenance.
- Support and supervise the administration team and contribute to the smooth running of the main school office.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher and Governors to support the strategic development of the school.
Qualifications
- Has experience in business, finance, or operational management, ideally within a school or public sector environment.
- Possesses excellent organisational, financial, and IT skills.
- Is an effective leader with the ability to motivate and support a team.
- Can work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
- Is approachable, professional, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
