The Care Act 2014 placed a duty on Local Authorities to shape and maintain an efficient and effective market of adult social care services for meeting care and support needs. The Children and Families Act 2014 placed a similar duty to quality assure services commissioned to meet the needs of children and young people. Local Authorities have a responsibility to ensure the safety of all local people using independent sector care providers.
The role of the Quality Monitoring Team is to promote and monitor quality in the care and support services commissioned by Derby City Council; help foster continuous improvement and innovation in provision across the care sector, support recruitment and retention of the local carer workforce, and mitigate provider concerns and failure to ensure the safety of individuals receiving care and support.
Responsibilities
• Conduct proactive and reactive reviews of local care services through audits, inspection visits, and service-user engagement.• Collate and report quality information captured from a variety of sources.• Provide support and guidance to local care providers on quality improvement initiatives.• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and best practices in adult social care and child services.
Qualifications
• Experience and knowledge of quality monitoring in adult social care and children and young people’s markets.• Understanding of safeguarding adults procedures, commissioning and provider management in the public sector.• Demonstrated skills in IT, report writing, and verbal communication.• Highly motivated, solution‑focused, resilient and enthusiastic about improving care quality.
