The Team

The maintenance team are responsible for carrying out reactive, cyclical and planned projects on University teaching and accommodation buildings around the city. A team of 24 core construction trades work closely with Estates to keep the University teaching areas up to standard along with the daily reactive works reported by staff and students.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be required to carry out installation and testing, servicing and fault finding, controls checks, preventive maintenance work and occasional projects. As part of a multi‑skilled team you may also be required to work across trades from time to time to assist other members of the team. The work will be across student accommodation and university teaching spaces. Prioritizing your work daily that is issued through the Archibus system you will gather quotes for materials which Estates admin will order or order directly from University suppliers.

Required skills and experience

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and will have served a recognised apprenticeship, hold core domestic gas certification, heating and water appliances as a minimum and be able to demonstrate good all‑round competence and experience of working on a wide range of plumbing and mechanical installations in a variety of building types.
