Principal Mechanical Engineer – Critical Systems

Your new role

As Principal Mechanical Engineer you will manage your own project work, deliver conceptual and detailed design to the highest standards, and maintain excellent client service. You will represent Ramboll on Critical Systems projects, lead your discipline, and manage engineers from complementary disciplines. You will also have opportunities to participate in international signature projects and contribute to the firm’s digital and parametric design strategy.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead Ramboll on Critical Systems projects and manage your own discipline and engineers from complementary disciplines
  • Work independently using your own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of your discipline
  • Produce conceptual and detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function
  • Inspire confidence internally and externally to strengthen client relationships
  • Manage project time to meet deadlines and allocate resources appropriately
  • Use digital and parametric design tools effectively
  • Create and develop innovative, complex technical solutions
  • Collaborate with other internal and external project disciplines
  • Develop low‑energy, low‑carbon solutions to reach net or nearly net‑zero targets
  • Coordinate the spatial and technical aspects of the MEP solution

About you

  • Qualified engineer with a proven, demonstrable track record in your discipline
  • Industrial, critical systems and building experience, including firefighting water system design
  • A CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree
  • Achieved CEng status
  • Proactive, independent work style with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts
  • Experience with digital and parametric design tools
