With a remit that includes Community Safety Partnerships, Prevent, Neighbourhood Enforcement and Emergency Planning, you will lead and co-ordinate the work of a talented and committed team dedicated to making the borough a safer place to live, work or visit.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a team within Community Safety Partnerships, Prevent, Neighbourhood Enforcement and Emergency Planning.
  • Drive partnership working, influencing, advocacy and negotiation across organisations on community safety issues.
  • Advise and persuade decision-makers on risks, mitigations, compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Demonstrate resilience and tenacity, including the ability to speak truth to power when required.
  • Apply professional knowledge of community safety to inform decisions and service delivery.
  • Manage people and resources effectively, including commissioning and contract management.
  • Identify and realise grant funding opportunities to support services.
  • Foster a sophisticated partnership approach and listen to diverse views while advocating for priorities.
  • Operate effectively in a political environment with high levels of scrutiny and attention.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Strong professional knowledge of community safety issues.
  • Effective people and resource management skills.
  • Experience with commissioning and contract management.
  • Ability to identify and secure grant funding opportunities.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong listening and advocacy abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a politically nuanced environment.
