About the role
This role sits within Strategic Finance and partners closely with senior business leaders to support investment planning, resource allocation, performance insight, and strategic decision-making. It combines financial modelling, planning, and analysis to help leadership make better decisions on growth, cost, prioritisation, and long‑term value creation.
In this role, you have an outsized opportunity to shape Mews’s direction, helping steer Mews’s thinking on how to invest money, our long‑term growth strategy and investment planning. You can expect to work on topics such as expansion into new countries or market segments, developing business cases for new products or partnerships, or customer strategy. At the same time, you will also work with senior business leaders on what their teams look like and how to improve performance.
You will work in an AI‑enabled FP&A environment, combining strong finance judgement with modern tools. We’re looking for someone who brings genuine curiosity about what AI can do for finance — someone who will spot automation opportunities, raise the bar for what the team produces, and be energized by building the workflows and tools that make that possible.
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior business leaders and the Director of Strategic Finance to help set the agenda and support strategic and financial decision-making:
- Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to assess business performance, investment choices and resource allocation
- Prepare high‑quality analysis, business cases and leadership‑ready materials to inform prioritisation and executive discussions
- Define and track KPIs that support visibility into performance, efficiency and value creation
- Support annual planning, forecasting cycles and in‑year decision‑making across the business
- Act as a finance business partner to budget owners, supporting spend management, investment decisions and prioritisation across the business:
- Evaluate cost and investment proposals, including financial returns, funding implications, and alignment with business priorities
- Support approval processes for spend and investment decisions through clear analysis, challenge, and decision‑oriented recommendations
- Support budget monitoring and in‑year cost control, helping leaders understand spend trends, risks, trade‑offs, and areas for intervention
- Identify risks, opportunities, and trade‑offs across the business, using data and commercial judgement to challenge assumptions
- Help shape and develop our AI‑enabled, high‑performing FP&A team, including:
- Improve FP&A processes, reporting, and planning tools to better support a scaling organisation
- Use AI‑enabled workflows and connected finance tools to improve speed, quality, and scalability of analysis, modelling, reporting, and planning
- Help shape a more modern FP&A way of working by embedding better tooling, automation, and decision‑support practices into day‑to‑day finance processes
Qualifications
- 4–6 years in FP&A or strategic finance, with strong modelling skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to build and challenge a business case:
- Strong knowledge of FP&A, financial modelling, forecasting, and business performance analysis
- Commercial acumen and a clear understanding of how financial and operational drivers connect to business performance
- 4–6 years in FP&A, Strategic Finance, Commercial Finance, Consulting, or Banking
- Business partnering experience, including budget monitoring, cost management, and supporting investment decisions
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; exposure to SQL, Looker, Tableau, or similar is beneficial
- Able to assess and challenge business cases with clear financial return logic and funding analysis
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is welcome but not required
- AI fluency, with a drive to automate and a genuine appetite for building agents and workflows:
- AI has genuinely changed how you work, not just how fast; you design automations others can use, spot opportunities others miss, and help colleagues think through how to apply AI
- Comfortable building and maintaining AI agents and multi‑step automated workflows — designing and owning them, not just using them
- A strong drive to automate low‑value work, with a track record or clear appetite for doing so in a finance context
- Some exposure to computer science, software development, or data engineering — formal study or self‑directed — is a genuine plus, but not required
- Familiarity with modern finance tooling; exposure to MCP‑enabled workflows or financial planning platforms is a plus
- A clear and credible communicator who influences through insight and is comfortable building in ambiguity:
- Able to turn complex financial and operational information into clear recommendations for non‑finance stakeholders
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, building from scratch, and improving processes in a scaling business
- Influences through insight and credible challenge rather than formal authority
