The Network Operations Engineer is accountable for the successful operations and support of the Client Network and underlying infrastructure. The role is part of a national team providing national and international support to the Accenture Aero & Defence Space client.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the stability and integrity of in-house data, LAN & WAN, and wireless network services by planning, designing, and developing LANs and WANs across the organization.
- Install, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all network hardware, software, and communication links.
- Analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems in line with the client Service Management processes, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely and accurate fashion in alignment with SLA targets.
- Plan and execute in-depth technical activity; influence the direction of activities/plans and provide technical insight and guidance to others.
- Investigate and help resolve issues on the customer’s network and IT environment using agreed troubleshooting methodologies.
- Manage network support cases to enable fast resolution that exceeds customer expectations.
- Ensure accurate recording of all cases using the company’s ticket management tool and close within agreed timeframes.
- Use the central document repository to share knowledge across the team and enable best practices.
- Support and take ownership of ad-hoc projects to develop the capabilities of the Ideal Service Centre.
- Support the wider team with knowledge sharing via knowledge base communications (emails, how-to guides, etc.) and contribute at team meetings.
- Participation in the on-call and shift rota; this is an on-site delivery-based role.
- Adhere to security requirements and approvals as applicable to client operations (BPSS and SC security clearances as required).
Qualifications
- Experience within information security/technology focused on networking.
- Cisco switching & wireless; Cisco Security including ASA firewalls and ISE.
- Cisco certification including CCNP or multiple CCNAs across network technologies/areas.
- Proven experience in incident management, service request management and problem solving.
- Experience using ticketing systems and monitoring/management tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships to understand client requirements.
- Ability to deliver against deadlines and SLA targets; ability to take ownership of an issue or task and see it through to completion.
- Desirable: ITIL qualification.
- Driving license (full, clean) preferred.
- Experience with Palo Alto, Check Point, Firewall Orchestration (as applicable).
- BPSS and SC security clearance requirements may apply, including 5 years of continuous UK address history at application.
