RoleDescription:

An opportunity hasarisen for a Chief Systems Engineer based at Rochester, within theEngineering organisation. The role is required to providediscipline expertise inthe context of product realisation across the entire Engineeringlifecycle and Rochester product portfolio.

Core Duties:

  • Ensure that systems engineering processes andapproaches meet the needs of projects taking into account therelevant standards
  • Participate in the BAESystems – Systems Engineering Working Group
  • Support projects with specific focus on project start-up,design, verification and clearance strategies
  • Provide support to project execution as required throughthe functional management team
  • Coach across the organisation to promote the embedding ofsound systems engineering practices
  • Drive thesystems discipline engineering strategies and process improvementactivities to improve cost, schedule and quality
  • Perform reviews of defects and recommend changes toprocess, training to improve future performance
  • Work with the other Chief Functional Engineers tocollaborate on improvement activities
  • Collaborate internally within ES and the wider BAESystems to determineand deploy best practice
  • Provide DesignCertifier support to Chief Engineers as required

EssentialSkills:

  • Experience ofplanning and performing systems engineering processimprovement
  • Experience in the application ofProduct Safety to SAE ARP4754B, SAE ARP4761A, DEF STAN00-056
  • Evidence of coaching Engineers in theircareer journeys
  • Qualification to Degree orequivalent in an engineering related discipline
  • Systems leadership experience within asmany of the following as possible: Mission Systems, Head UpDisplays, Helmet Mounted Displays, Active Inceptors, FlightControl Systems andPower Management
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent status
