Assistant Management Accountant

About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a trusted client for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing and dynamic finance team in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to further develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced organisation.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with management reporting. This role offers excellent exposure across the finance function and opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
Preparing journals, accruals, and prepayments
Performing balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
Analysing financial performance and preparing variance reports
Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
Reconciling bank accounts and intercompany balances
Supporting VAT returns and statutory reporting
Maintaining the fixed asset register
Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
Assisting with audit preparation and responding to auditor queries
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support across the business
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
Experience assisting with management accounts
Strong knowledge of accruals, prepayments, journals, and reconciliations
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Experience using accounting software or ERP systems
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable
Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent
AAT qualified with progression towards a professional qualification
Experience working in a commercial finance environment
Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes
