FLT / Yard Operative

Yard Operative / Counterbalance Driver Nottingham £13.00 per hour Full-Time, Temp – Perm

We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative / Counterbalance Driver on behalf of a well-established builders merchant in Nottingham.

This is a hands-on role, with approximately 80% of your time spent working within the yard and 20% operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck. The successful candidate will have previous experience within a builders merchant environment and be confident handling a range of building materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles.
• Picking and preparing orders accurately for collection and delivery.
• Serving trade and retail customers in the yard.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
• Assisting with stock control and stock movements.
• Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Supporting colleagues across the branch as required.

Requirements

• Previous experience working within a Builders Merchant is essential.
• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck (CBT) qualification/licence.
• Good knowledge of building materials and products.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy yard environment.
• Reliable, hardworking and safety conscious.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
