Equine Technician

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

£25,255 – £27,373 per annum

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Easton College Equine Centre as an Equine Technician. With continued growth and development, this is a fantastic time to become part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team committed to excellence in equine education and welfare.

 

In this hands-on role, you will play a vital part in supporting the practical learning experience of our students. You’ll work closely with both staff and learners to demonstrate key skills, supervise yard duties, and help maintain a professional, industry-standard environment.

 

Alongside supporting teaching and learning, you will be responsible for a range of duties including equine husbandry, feeding, mucking out, health monitoring, record keeping, and exercising horses, ensuring the highest standards of horse care and welfare are consistently achieved.

 

We are looking for a motivated and reliable team player who thrives in a busy, practical environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach are essential, as you’ll be working collaboratively across the Equine Centre.

 

Key requirements:

·      Solid practical experience in horse care (including mucking out and feeding)

·      Confident riding ability (walk, trot, canter, and jumping)

·      A minimum of BHS Stage 2 Complete (or equivalent)

·      A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to support a varied workload

 

This role includes working weekends, bank holidays, and college holidays, with participation in an on-call rota and supporting commercial yard activities.

All new appointed employees are required to complete an enhanced DBS Check and register with the DBS Update Service. Please note: From the 28 November 2020 the government implemented changes to the filtering rules therefore we have been instructed that we cannot accept any update service checks on DBS certificates that have been issued before this date. Therefore, a new one must be completed with the organisation.
