Industry and Work Placement Officer

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

£25,255 – £29,856 per annum

Fixed Term until 31st March 2027

The Industry and Work Placement team are recruiting to a new, fixed term role to support 16-18 Study programme students on Level 2 and 3 Construction courses into short, job focused work placements. 

The role, supported by new funding from government for this key sector, will work closely with new roles in the curriculum teams to support the sourcing and successful completion of work placements of no fewer than 3 weeks.

The successful candidate will need to be focused on 

• Employer Engagement & Relationship Building:

Using established partnerships and developing new ones with a wide range of employers, including SMEs and larger contractors, to enabling sustainable pipelines of opportunities for learners.

• Knowledge of Skills & Workforce Needs:

Strong understanding of the construction sector’s skills demands, including trades shortages, compliance requirements, and employer expectations for entry-level talent.

• Operational & Delivery Focus:

Experience in aligning curriculum delivery with employer needs, ensuring placements are meaningful, structured, and contribute to learner progression and achievement.

• Safeguarding & Student Experience:

Committed to ensuring placements are safe, inclusive, and supportive, providing 16–18 learners with positive first experiences of the workplace.

• Collaborative approach across teams

Developing highly effective working relationships with curriculum teams and, in particular, new work focused colleagues based in those curriculum areas. 

The role is full-time and runs through the March ’27. Indications from the Department for Education are that funding for this and related roles will continue beyond that.
