About the Company

Our client is one of the UK’s longest-established and most respected specialists in residential renewables, with well over a decade of industry experience. Based in Reading, they design, install, and maintain high-quality solar PV, battery storage, and smart energy systems for homes across the South of England. Their approach is technically led, built on honest advice, transparent pricing, and meticulous engineering. The business is growing fast, expanding into new areas and new technologies — and they’re looking for early-career sales talent to grow with them. Their mission: help people take control of their energy, cut their bills, and accelerate the UK’s shift to a sustainable future.

About the Role

This is an entry-level Solar Sales Consultant position designed for someone who’s already got a foot in the solar industry and wants to step up. You’ll sell solar and battery storage systems to homeowners, learning to own the customer relationship from first enquiry through to signed contract. You’ll assess properties, scope the right systems, brief the in-house designer, present proposals, and follow up through to signature — with structured training, mentorship, and the support of an experienced team. As you develop, you’ll run your own pipeline and own your numbers. You’ll be trusted to get on with it.

Responsibilities

  • Engage homeowners by phone, email, and video to understand their energy needs.
  • Recommend solar and battery storage solutions matched to each customer’s property, usage, and budget.
  • Present a clear, transparent pricing model and build trust through honest advice.
  • Talk customers through the full offering — solar panels, inverters, batteries, EV chargers, and heat pumps, plus design, installation, permitting, and financing.
  • Visit customer properties to assess feasibility and capture survey information (with training and support).
  • Brief the in-house designer on customer requirements and site conditions, then present the finished proposal back to the customer.
  • Manage your own sales pipeline, follow up on leads within agreed timeframes, and keep accurate records in the CRM.
  • Hand signed projects over cleanly to the projects and installation team.
  • Represent the business at local events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  • Work towards monthly sales targets and earn commission on every deal you close.

Qualifications

A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in the solar industry — this could be in sales, surveying, design support, lead qualification, customer service, or installations.

Required Skills

  • A working understanding of residential solar PV and battery storage (you don’t need to be an expert, but you should be able to talk about it credibly).
  • Confident communicator, written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical ideas in plain English.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and positive — comfortable on the phone and face to face.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and detail-focused.
  • A genuine interest in sustainability and clean energy, with the drive to learn fast in a growing business.

Preferred Skills

  • Any direct residential sales experience (solar, home improvement, EV chargers, heat pumps).
  • Experience conducting on-site surveys or in-home customer meetings.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with Tesla Powerwall 3 or Sigenergy SigenStor systems.
  • Additional language skills.

Pay range and compensation package

Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission on closed deals. Structured training and hands-on mentorship from experienced industry professionals. A clear path to grow into a senior sales role in one of the UK’s fastest-expanding sectors. A direct role in promoting green energy and transforming homes for a sustainable future.

Equal Opportunity Statement

You’ll join a team that cares about doing things properly — designing systems that genuinely work, supporting customers honestly, and raising standards across the renewables industry. Their values: Engineering excellence, Attention to detail, Technical education and development, First-class customer support, Safety, sustainability, and integrity.
